Certificate of authenticity

It is possible to request a Certificate of Authenticity for the various artworks of Fulvio Bianconi like graphics, canvas works and glasses. The issuing of a Certificate of Authenticity conducted through expertise process, is an essential tool for a fair and legal protection and use of the artistic works and creations of Fulvio Bianconi.

In addition to protecting and promoting the work of an artist who silently and humbly worked for over 60 years to create thousands of works of art and graphics, we are stressing the lack of interest shown by the authorities towards the protection of copyrights.

Fulvio Bianconi has contributed towards giving fame at the Murano glass art, dispelling the common notion that glass as material is poor art. Unfortunately glasses that he designed and created continue to be produced and attributed in his name not only by copying the works created but also producing new works in order to achieve greater profit. It also happens that they fail to assign 'fatherhood' on him with ultimate scope of not respecting the Author’s rights.

Furthemore, we would like to focus your attention on another, even worse, phenomenon that of self-declared 'expert glass artists' who attribute the authorship of glasses to Fulvio Bianconi although he never created them. Moreover, we have discovered various artworks attributed to Fulvio Bianconi that are often deliberately altered, although being clear and well known to all experts.

In terms of glass, there are in fact three different categories depending on the mode of creation that have a different artistic and economic value.

1. The first category includes the glasses created under the personal supervision of the artist in the furnace (glass oven), typically made by the hand of the artist himself (prototype), which he photographed, exhibited and eventually sold at a later date.
2. The second category refers to glass made by master glassmakers at a later time by copying the single prototype usually within 5-10 days after its creation; sometimes with written consent by Fulvio Bianconi (as remuneration for the furnace).
3. The third category includes the glasses made in later periods, sometimes decades later of the date of the creation of the prototype.

It is clear that the value of a glass made by Fulvio Bianconi should be different from that of the works performed and subsequently attributed to him.

All the phenomena above pollute the fame of Fulvio Bianconi and image of the glass as conceived by him.

The intent here is to protect the legacy of Fulvio Bianconi and we would appreciate if you helped our effort on this for the sake of art. In order to combat this disrespectful behaviour, we choose to offer you the posibility to certify the authenticity of the works under your possession. The way for it will be conducted through various checks known as expertise.

We hope that owner's/collectors and fans of Fulvio Bianconi's works would like to join us in this battle and promote respect in the name of Fulvio Bianconi, an artist who loved his art and has offered so much to all of us.

The certification requires rigorous checks and can only be carried out for artworks that are not included in any production series until 1996 known as ‘unique prototypes, prototypes or equivalent’. This includes artworks of paintings, drawings, graphics and glasses regardless of being signed or not.

Other works spread after 1996 can be recognised only if they meet the conditions set out and comply with the Italian copyright law articles 12 and 24.

It is required that you provide us with the artwork’s dimensions/measurements (e.g. depth, base diameter, height, width in cm) and pictures from all sides (e.g. top, sides in .jpeg format).
